The Indian Army urgently ordered 100 suicide drones under the authority to acquire weapons

The drone will be developed in a joint venture with a company headquartered in Bangalore

Named Skystriker, this drone is capable of accurate precision attack at low altitudes.

New Delhi: To enhance the capabilities of Indian forces, the Army has entered into an agreement with Alpha Design, a Bengaluru-headquartered company, to acquire more than 100 armed drones called Sky Striker. Alpha Design will manufacture the drone in Bengaluru in a joint venture with Israel's Elbit Security Systems.

The agreement to acquire the drone will also boost the Government of India's Make in India campaign. With the production of these drones in Bengaluru, the indigenization of the defense sector will also gain momentum. The Indian Army has ordered the acquisition of the Skystriker drone using its Emergency Procurement Powers. Agreements were reached on September 1 to acquire the drones.

According to the information provided about this drone on the website of the Israeli company, the Skystriker drone is an affordable device for accurate precision attack over long distances. The SkyStracker drone's electric propulsion makes little noise, making it ideal for low-altitude covert operations. This drone is also known as a suicide drone because it hits the target with explosives.

Retired Colonel HS Shankar, chairman and managing director of Alpha Design, said the drone was filled with location details by GPS before launch. After dropping the drone, it stays in the air in the area, identifies its target and sends information to ground control. He attacks only after he is approved.
