Panjshir province, which has been battling the Taliban in Afghanistan, has also finally suffered defeat. The latest images from Panjshir show that the Taliban have taken control of the area. The Taliban themselves have claimed that they have completely conquered Panjshir. Some pictures have also surfaced, one of which shows a Taliban flag in Panjshir. The second shows the Taliban's Panjshir standing outside the governor's office.

A claim is being made by the Taliban that they have also killed Saleh Mohammad, the chief commander of the Resistance Force (Northern Alliance). Taliban spokesman Jabihullah Mujahid said Afghanistan's Panjshir province had been completely conquered.

Panjshir was the last province not to be occupied by the Taliban. Earlier, on August 15, the Taliban took control of the whole of Afghanistan with a victory over Kabul.

Fighters in Panjshir started looking weak from Sunday night. Fahim Dashti, a spokesman for the Resistance Front and a close associate of Ahmed Masood, who was fighting the Taliban in the valley, also died on Sunday. It is learned that the Vice President of Afghanistan Amarullah Saleh is currently safe in an unknown place. While Asad Mahmoud has been in Tajikistan for the last 3 days.
