Something was cooked up in Punjab politics and Sukhjinder was left to cook up

Chandigarh, Ta. 13

In the last 3 hours, there has been a lot of turmoil in Punjab politics. In these 8 hours, Capt. Amarinder, who is considered as the epitome of Congress in Punjab, resigned from the post of Chief Minister and Punjab also got a new Dalit Chief Minister. However, during these 8 hours, the names of some senior leaders for the post of Chief Minister were discussed, in which the name of Sukhjinder Randhawa was decided, but suddenly the name of Charanjit Singh Channi was announced. Sunil Jakhar, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Ambika Soni and Randhawa remained in the race.

Before Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat announced the name of Charanjit Singh Channy in the evening, his name was not widely discussed among the CM candidates. In announcing the new Chief Minister of Punjab, the Congress, like the BJP, shocked everyone. After Captain Amarinder's resignation as Chief Minister on Saturday, the debate over the names of Sunil Jakhar and Navjot Singh Sidhu as the new captain of Punjab came to a halt after Ambika Soni came to be known as Sukhjinder Randhawa.

The name of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was agreed at the Congress assembly meeting on Sunday for the selection of the new chief minister and his name was sent to the high command. All that was left was the formal announcement of his becoming the Chief Minister. Leaders started gathering at Sukhjinder Randhawa's house. Book was also summoned, but suddenly a group demanded a Dalit CM.

Captain Amarinder, on the other hand, had earlier made it clear that if the party made Navjot Singh Sidhu or his close ally the chief minister, he would have to go through a floor test. Navjot Singh Sidhu was made the President of the Punjab Congress against the wishes of the Captain. Because of Sidhu, Amarinder Singh had to resign from the Chief Minister's chair, but the party could not withstand the Captain's revolt by making Randhawa the Chief Minister. As a result, the Congress announced the name of Charanjit Singh Channy at the request of the Dalit Chief Minister.

The Congress announced Channy's name and hit several targets with one arrow. Charanjit Singh is not on Channi Sidhu's list of allies. He is also considered an opponent of Amarinder. Therefore, his choice did not give a chance to either Sidhu or Amarinder to complain. In addition, by making the Dalit leader the chief minister, the Congress has sent a political message to Uttar Pradesh and other states with elections.
