Rumors of Amarinder joining BJP from meeting with Amit Shah: Politics heats up

New Delhi, Dt

Capt Amarinder Singh, who is in Delhi for the first time since resigning as Punjab chief minister, met BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday evening. With this meeting, speculation was rife that the captain would leave the Congress and join the BJP to avenge the insult. The meeting between Amit Shah and Amarinder Singh lasted for about 3 minutes. Amarinder tweeted that he had discussed with Home Minister Shah the issue of internal security in Punjab, to take back agricultural laws.

With Punjab set to go to the polls early next year, what Amarinder Singh decides on his future plans has become a topic of discussion. Capt Amarinder's visit to Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday evening has sparked speculation that he will join the BJP. However, Amarinder Singh has not made any announcement on the issue.

Sources said the former Punjab chief minister had discussed the issue of agricultural laws with Amit Shah. It will be difficult for Amarinder to join the BJP until the central government withdraws the new agricultural laws. Amarinder Singh has been consistently opposing agricultural laws for more than a year. They have always been opposed to agricultural law. Therefore, if Amarinder joins the BJP without withdrawing agricultural laws, he will suffer more.

On the other hand, clarifying the issue of meeting with Amit Shah, Amarinder Singh tweeted that he had discussed the farmers' movement with the Home Minister. He discussed the long-running peasant movement with Shah and urged him to repeal the agricultural law and resolve the issue immediately with the guarantee of the MSP, apart from supporting Punjab in crop diversification.

Meanwhile, sources said that another meeting between Amit Shah and Amarinder Singh could be held soon and a final strategy could be worked out in a meeting with Prime Minister Modi. In addition, Amarinder is expected to meet disgruntled G-2 leaders with the Congress high command. However, Amarinder has not given any clear indication yet. He has left all the options open for himself. According to sources, if Amarinder leaves the Congress and does not join the BJP, he may form a separate party. Even if that happens, the BJP will benefit. In Punjab, the BJP can support Captain Amarinder from outside.
