Petrol and diesel are likely to become more expensive in a country where international oil prices are rising

New Delhi: Rising international crude oil prices are likely to push up Indian oil marketing companies' petrol and diesel prices in the country as oil marketing companies face heavy margin pressures, sources said.

Petrol and diesel prices have not changed in the last 12 days but now that oil prices are rising internationally, petrol and diesel prices may go up again.

According to sources, crude oil prices have risen by four to six dollars a barrel compared to the August average. So far, however, Indian oil marketing companies have not raised prices.

According to sources, if international crude prices remain unchanged at this level, oil marketing companies will be forced to raise petrol and diesel prices. This was followed by the last hike in petrol prices on July 17 and diesel prices on July 15. At present, a liter of petrol costs Rs. 101.19 and diesel at Rs. Is 88.62.

International crude prices fell by 3 3 a barrel in August compared to July. Petrol and diesel prices were last reduced on September 5. After July 18, a liter of petrol was reduced by Rs 0.65 and diesel by Rs 1.25 in Delhi.
