Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the new offices of the Ministry of Defense at Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Africa Avenue as part of the Central Vista project. He slammed the opposition for criticizing the project. PM Modi also launched a new website for the Central Vista project.

The prime minister said critics of the Central Vista project never mentioned that the defense ministry office was also a part of the project. The modern infrastructure project is relevant to the economic development of the country. He added that in the 7th year of independence, today we are moving towards developing the country's capital according to the needs and aspirations of the new India. Now the modern office of the Ministry of Defense, located on KG Road and Africa Avenue, will help in the effective execution of every task related to the security of the nation. This is a big step towards the construction of a modern defense enclave in the capital.

Prime Minister Modi said that when we talk about the capital, it is not just a city. The capital of any country is a symbol of the thinking, determination, strength and culture of that country. India is the mother of democracy, so the capital of India should be one with the people at its center. Today, as we focus on Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business, modern infrastructure has an equally important role to play. More than 3,000 employees and officials of the Ministry of Defense will handle the work from this office.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the work on the new Parliament building would be completed on time as part of the Central Vista project. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the reconstruction of Central Vista Avenue from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate would be completed in two and a half months. The Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs said that this part of the Central Vista project will be ready for the Republic Day celebrations in 2022. In addition, the winter session of Parliament will be held next year in the new Parliament building.
