New Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh a threat to women

A new controversy has erupted over the name of new Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy. The head of the National Commission for Women said Charanjit Singh has been accused of molesting women in the past.
Rekha Sharma, head of the National Commission for Women, has demanded the removal of new Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy. Addressing Sonia Gandhi, Rekha Sharma appealed that it was unfortunate that a party headed by a woman would appoint a leader who molested a woman as the Chief Minister.
According to Rekha Sharma, the woman had also accused Charanjit Singh of molesting her in 2012 when the Me Too movement was in full swing. The state women's commission in Punjab also demanded action against her. However, no action was taken at that time.
Earlier, BJP leader Amit Malviya had also leveled allegations against Charanjit Singh and questioned his appointment as chief minister. The BJP leader claimed that Charanjit Singh had sent an inappropriate message to a female IAS officer in 2012. No action was taken against him at that time.
The Congress high command had opted for a middle ground by naming Charanjit Singh to quell the ongoing political feud between Captain and Sidhu in Punjab, but a new controversy has erupted after the announcement of a new chief minister.
