Mehsana's family arrested for traveling to Canada with fake passport-visa

He had to travel to three countries and go to Canada as the documents were fake

Based on the suspicious behavior of the family at the Delhi airport, CISF personnel rushed to the spot

New Delhi: A Gujarat man and his wife and daughter were picked up from Delhi airport for trying to enter Canada with fake passports and fake visas. The entire family belonged to Mehsana, a senior government official at Delhi Airport said on Thursday.

When the Mehsana family entered Terminal 3 of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday night, they were a little frightened to see the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel present there, so a look of panic and fear could be seen on their faces. The suspect was picked up by CISF personnel.

The family was to travel from Delhi to Santa Cruz, USA, and from there to Canada via Frankfurt, Germany, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Officials at the airport scrutinized their passports and visas and found a number of discrepancies.

The Canadian embassy in Delhi also said the visas on the family's passports were fake, a CISF official said. The family was handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office at the airport for further questioning and investigation.
