Petrol models of Ciaz, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL-6 to be recalled between 4-5-18 and 27-10-20

MUMBAI: India's leading car maker Maruti Suzuki on Friday announced that it has ordered the recall of 1.81 lakh cars as potential defects can be investigated and repaired to determine the cause of safety and related problems. The recall order has been issued voluntarily by the company and the owners of potentially affected vehicles will be contacted through Maruti Suzuki's authorized workshop.

In a statement, Maruti Suzuki said the recall order covers petrol models of Ciaz, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga and XL6 and vehicles manufactured between May 4, 2018 and October 27, 2020. During this recall the motor generator unit of the vehicle will be inspected and in case of defect, finally the customer will be given replacement without any cost.

The process of replacing any defective parts will start from the first week of November and up to this time, owners of certain models of Maruti Suzuki cars have been asked to avoid driving in flooded areas and to avoid spraying water directly on electrical and electronic parts. Customers can check if their vehicle is part of a recall order by logging on to Maruti Suzuki or Nexa websites and entering the vehicle's chassis number (MA3, then a 14-digit alpha-numeric code).
