India is not one of the top 300 universities in the world rankings

For the second year in a row, seven IITs did not participate in the rankings

The IITO objected to the lack of transparency in the ranking criteria

New Delhi: Not a single Indian university has found a place in the top 300 universities in the new edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. India's seven IITs continued their boycott for the second year in a row.

The country's top educational institution, the Indian Institute of Science, is ranked between three and three-and-a-half hundred, while IIT Roper and JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research are ranked between 351 and 400.

India has 35 universities in the top 1000 universities in the world. Last year, a maximum of 36 universities were ranked in this ranking. For the sixth year in a row, Oxford University retained the number one spot on the list.

The country's seven IITs - Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Madras, Roorkee and Kharagpur - continued boycotting the global rankings for the second year in a row. In April last year, he announced his boycott, citing concerns over transparency.

Not a single one of the country's seven IITs was ranked in the top 300 universities in his rankings.

"We hoped they would change their criteria a little bit but after those meetings no one bothered to contact us again," said an IIT director. So we have continued our boycott.

Responding to the matter, Phil Betty, Editorial Director of Time Higher Education, said: "Our ranking methodology is transparent and is trusted worldwide. Our ranking system is based on a relationship of trust and transparency with the participating universities.
