In Srinagar, the army found six grenades on the highway

Srinagar: Security forces have recovered six hand grenades placed by militants at the busiest Parimpora-Panthalchowk in Srinagar and defused a major tragedy.

During a daily road-clearing exercise on National Highway 8, vigilant forces of the 8th Battalion of the CPF seized six Chinese hand grenades in a sandbag at a road divider, a military spokesman said. He said the seizure of the hand grenade had averted a major tragedy on the highway where the military was busy.

The official added that the grenades were not depleted there as there was a significant rush on this highway. They were handed over to the police for disposal. Military forces are always maneuvering on this very busy road connecting North Kashmir with North Kashmir.

Security forces found grenades from the spot which they use to reach the inland border district. These include Kupwada and Bandipora. The same road is also used to go to Ladakh.
