Hriday Narayan Dixit, Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly and MLA of Unnao district, has clarified a controversial statement made recently. He made a statement regarding the comparison of Mahatma Gandhi and Rakhi Sawant during a program at Bangaramau last Saturday. His statement went very viral on social media. However he clarified his statement after the video went viral.

"Some friends on social media are broadcasting a video excerpt of my speech with a hint of otherwise meaning," he tweeted. In fact it is part of my speech at the Unnao Enlightened Convention. In it, the convention organizer introduced me and called me an enlightened writer. I went on to say that writing some books and articles does not make one enlightened. Mahatma Gandhi wore less clothes, the country called him 'Bapu'. But that does not mean that Rakhi Sawant will also become Gandhiji. Friends please accept my speech in real context only. Thank you.

What a statement that was

Hriday Narayan Dixit said to Mahatma Gandhi during Prabuddha Sammelan that Gandhiji wore less clothes, wore dhoti, Gandhiji was called Bapu of the country, if someone became great by taking off clothes, Rakhi Sawant would become great. Furthermore, I have read and analyzed 6,000 books.

Referring to Mahatma Gandhi, he said that if he wore less clothes, the country would call him Bapu, but it is not that wearing less clothes makes one an intellectual. If someone grew up by wearing less clothes or undressing, Rakhi Sawant would be even bigger than Mahatma Gandhi today. Dixit's statement went viral on social media. After controversy and criticism, he has now clarified the issue.
