British MPs can't wear jeans, T-shirts or fitted pants sleeveless top

MPs will have to dress like businessmen

The new rules issued by the Speaker of the House of Commons emphasize sacraments and limits

LONDON: Members of Britain's parliament will now have to abide by limits and etiquette, as the lower house of parliament, the Speaker of the House of Commons, has enacted new rules under which MPs will wear a member and cultured politician when the House meets in the coming days.

The speaker also warned that all MPs would have to wear clothes and shoes that would leave a businessman. The circular issued by the Speaker to the MPs made it clear that no MP would be allowed to wear jeans, skin-tight fitting pants or sports shoes during the sitting of Parliament.

A number of rules pertaining to MPs were relaxed when a nationwide lockdown was imposed during the Covid epidemic that struck Britain, but now Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle has changed those rules. The new rules he amended said MPs should know what they should wear. They should respect their constituents in their Lok Sabha constituencies and also maintain the dignity of the House.

The new rules urge all MPs to dress up as a businessman when they come to attend the House of Representatives meeting after the end of the summer and when they return to the Parliament premises. Jeans, fitted pants, any type of clothing or shoes that are going to play sports and casual pants are not suitable at all. Clothing like T-shirts and sleeveless tops do not adorn MPs, the rules said in clear terms.
