The BJP has announced to field Priyanka Tibrewal against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Bhawanipur seat in West Bengal.
The Congress has refused to field a candidate against Mamata Banerjee but the BJP has decided to field Mamata Banerjee here. Voting for the seat is scheduled for September 30. The BJP has also handed over the responsibility of campaigning to senior leaders here.
Priyanka Tibrewal, 41, is a lawyer by profession and advocates in the Supreme Court as well as the High Court. She is also the vice-president of the BJP's youth front. She joined the BJP in 2014.
The petition was filed in the High Court in connection with the post-assembly violence in West Bengal and was filed by Priyanka Tibrewal. The court has since referred the matter to the CBI.
"I have been working for the last 10 years to bring justice to the people and defeat in elections is not a big deal. I have defeated the Chief Minister in court before," he told a channel.
In the recent assembly elections, he lost to the TMC candidate by 58000 votes and will now contest the by-election against Mamata Banerjee.
