Amid the conflict in eastern Ladakh, China changed the army commander on the India border

Amid the ongoing dispute between India and China on the eastern Ladakh border, Drag has been appointed as the new military commander on the Indian border, General Wang Haijiang, the new commander of the People's Liberation Army's Western Theater Command. China has changed the commander of the Western Theater Command for the fourth time since the conflict with India in eastern Ladakh. There has been a stand-off between India and China in eastern Ladakh for almost a year and a half. Even after several rounds of talks, the two countries could not reach an agreement.

General Wang will replace General Shoe Killing in Haijiang Western Theater Command. General Wang is the fourth commander to lead the Western Theater Command since the conflict began in Ladakh in May 2020. China’s Western Theater Command oversees the border with India along with the Xinjiang and Tibet Autonomous Region, making it the largest geographical area in China’s military as a command.

As head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Central Military Commission (CMC), Xi Jinping promoted Wang and four other military officers to the highest general rank for officers in active military service in China, according to China's state-run website Cinamil. The Central Military Commission (CMC) is the overall high command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). The two countries' armies have agreed to withdraw their troops from Pangong Tso Lake and Gogra after clashes in the Galvan Valley in June last year, resulting in some easing of tensions in eastern Ladakh, but in areas such as Hot Springs and Depsang. .

Chinese President Xi Jinping promoted General Xu Qiling in July as head of the PLA's Western Theater Command. However, the new role of shoe killing is not clear now. General Shoe Killing, 3, was the third commander to be appointed in eastern Ladakh after a dispute with India erupted. Earlier, General Zhang Shudong was appointed head of the command on December 16 last year. He was replaced by Shudong when 9-year-old General Zhao Zhongqi retired from the PLA.

General Wang Haijiang has seen the war with Vietnam in the early 120's. He has also served in the People's Liberation Army's Elite Unit. Wang has served as head of the Tibetan Military District until December 2016. Here they were working to suppress anti-government sentiment among Tibetans. China has always been wary of Tibet. Recently, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Tibet. He was also the first Chinese president to visit Tibet. Here he stressed the need to implement fundamental guidelines governing religious programs as well as telling the military to be ready for war at any time.
