Afghanistan and Myanmar will not address the UN General Assembly

The Taliban requested that in addition to the International Atomic Energy Agency's ongoing inspections in Iran, that it monitor Iran's compliance with "the steps required by the IAEA Board"

Spokespersons addressing the General Assembly excluded both countries from the list

United Nations: Afghanistan and Myanmar will not address the high-level discussion of the UN General Assembly on Monday, as both countries were excluded from the list of spokespersons for the 76th General Assembly.

Afghanistan and Myanmar were not included in the list of spokespersons prepared on the last day of the 76th General Assembly General Assembly. On Friday, Stephen Dujarric, a spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, said Ghulam Isakzai was currently on the list to represent Afghanistan.

On the other hand, in the wake of the military coup in Myanmar, the country's military rulers ordered the removal of Myanmar's ambassador to the UN and the appointment of a new ambassador to replace him.

Last week, the Taliban government in Afghanistan informed UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in writing that its spokesman Suhail Shaheen had been appointed as Afghanistan's ambassador to the UN and urged him to address the UN General Assembly.
