A police complaint has been registered against the father of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel

For making an insulting statement against the Brahmin community

All citizens are equal in my government and the police will take appropriate action in this case too: Baghel

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh police had registered a complaint against Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's father Nandkumar Baghel for making insulting remarks against the Brahmin community, an official press release issued by the Chhattisgarh police on Sunday said.

Reacting to the controversy over his father's remarks, Chief Minister Baghal said he was "deeply saddened" by his father's insulting remarks against a particular community. He also assured that his government would not have any civilians above the law, and that the police would take appropriate action in the incident.

A police officer registered an FIR against 86-year-old Nand Kumar Baghel at the DD Nagar police station here on Saturday night following a complaint lodged by the Sarva Brahmin Samaj.

The police had registered an FIR under sub-section 153-A of the IPC (creating animosity between different sections of the society on the basis of language, place of birth, place of birth, caste or religion) and 505-B. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's father had recently sparked controversy in Uttar Pradesh by making many insulting statements against Brahmins.

Embarrassed over his father's remarks, Chief Minister Baghal, however, insisted that his father's remarks had come to his notice as he was hurt by the sentiments of one of the communities. He also said that there is talk on social media that no action will be taken against my father, but all the citizens of the state are equal in my government.
