100 crore heroin seized from Kapurthala in Punjab


Candigadhah have been arrested twenty kilograms of heroin worth Rs 100 crore in the international market from two Kapurthala district in Punjab, the Punjab police said.

Both the arrested are suppliers and dealers and have been identified. Among them Balwinder Singh is from Sarangwal village of Hoshiarpur and Peter Masih is from Basti Danishmanda area of ​​Jalandhar. Two criminal cases have been registered against Peter.

State DGP Dinkar Gupta said in an official statement that the police team intercepted the truck and the car during a check at Kapurthala. A search of the vehicles turned up 20 kilograms of heroin.

The driver of these vehicles tried to flee, but was immediately apprehended. Police seized 20 packets of heroin weighing one kilogram each from him, the DGP said.

HS Khak, senior superintendent of police, Kapurthala, said the truck driver's cabin was filled with heroin by making a space on the side of the roof and sealing it. In the preliminary investigation, the accused said that he had obtained the heroin from the smuggling at Purmara Mandi in Srinagar. Balwinder Singh brought it in a truck and Peter Masih got the consignment from him.

The DGP said the narco-gangster angle was also being investigated. The investigation points out that Peter Masih was sent by Gagandeep, brother of notorious gangster Rajneesh Kumar, to take consignment. Police suspect that notorious gangsters locked up in jail are running a large drug syndicate.
