The issue of demolition of a Hindu temple in Pakistan's Punjab province was heard in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The apex court had slammed Imran Khan's government and police and ordered immediate arrest of the robbers. Not only that, he also ordered to take steps not to demolish the temples from now on.
A Hindu temple in Bhong town in Rahimyar Khan district of Punjab province was demolished by a radical group. Broke into the temple and smashed the idols and beat the people present in the temple. Imran Khan's government had ordered an inquiry into the matter. The Supreme Court of Pakistan also heard the issue by filing a suo-moto.
Pakistan's Supreme Court Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed has questioned Imran Khan's government. The chief justice asked what the police were doing when vandalized elements were vandalizing the temple. Why didn't the government take any action?
The Supreme Court had directed Imran Khan to ensure the safety of the temples now in existence. Such incidents make the head of the country bow in shame in front of the world, so concrete steps should be taken to prevent such incidents from happening.
The Chief Justice took the news to the full court of the Inspector General of Police. The Chief Justice asked what are the police doing for the safety of you minorities? In reply, IGP Ahmed Gani said that 80 Hindu families in Bhong have been given adequate protection and the process of identifying the attackers has been started. The chief justice said that if the police commissioner, deputy police commissioner and district police chief could not control the fundamentalists, suspend them immediately. The Supreme Court has directed the government to respond to the issue.
