Twitter has now locked the accounts of Maharashtra and Rajasthan Congress, also taking action against Minister Thorat

New Delhi, Thursday 12 August 2021

Even as the accounts of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party and many of its senior leaders have been locked up, Twitter has continued its action. Maharashtra Minister of State for Home and IT Satel Patil has claimed that the Twitter handle of Maharashtra Congress and senior leader Balasaheb Thorat has been locked through a microblogging site. Apart from this, the account of Rajasthan Congress Pradesh Samiti has also been locked.

In one tweet after another, Patil said that the BJP government at the Center was scared and social media platforms were dancing to his tune. The Kolhapur Congress leader tweeted, "I condemn the suspension of Congress leaders' Twitter accounts. It is clear that the BJP government is scared and is twisting Twitter to get their wishes fulfilled."

Apart from Rahul Gandhi, the accounts of Maharashtra Congress and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat have also been blocked, Patil said. "Whoever raises his voice against fascism and corruption, the BJP silences him," he said. Her account was locked for posting a picture of the victim's family on Twitter after she was raped and murdered in Delhi. After this, the Congress party and many of its senior leaders shared the same photo and also challenged to block their account.
