The UPA government passed a bill every five minutes

New Delhi, Dt

The current monsoon session of Parliament has come as a shock to the Opposition on issues like Pegasus espionage controversy, agricultural bills, inflation. Yet the government succeeded in passing some bills in both houses. In this context, the Opposition accused the Central Government of passing important bills in the national interest without any discussion. Responding to the Opposition, the Union Ministers on Thursday said that 18 bills were hastily passed during the UPA government between 2009 and 2014. The Center had alleged that the Delhi Special Police Establishment (Amendment) Bill was only discussed for three minutes in 2008. At that time, the UPA government had passed 12 bills every four minutes, one in five minutes. The Taxation Law (Amendment) Bill was passed in just two minutes on March 15, 2009.
