The BJP received Rs 2,555 crore from electoral bonds in 2019-20


Donations to the BJP increased by 75 per cent

Congress got only Rs 318 crore, a decrease of 17 per cent in one year: you got Rs 18 crore

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has bagged 76 per cent of the electoral bonds sold in the financial year 2019-20. This is revealed in the data received by the media from the Election Commission.

A total of Rs 3,355 crore was issued through electoral bonds. In which BJP has got Rs 2555 crore. The money received by the BJP through electoral bonds is 75 per cent higher than the previous year. Last year, the BJP received Rs 1,450 crore through electoral bonds. On the other hand, donations to Congress declined by 17 per cent during the same period.

During the year 2018-19, the Congress received Rs 383 crore through electoral bonds. But during the year 2019-20, this amount came down to Rs 318 crore, which is 9 per cent of the total electoral bonds. Looking at other parties, Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) got Rs 100.46 crore.

Sharad Pawar's party NCP got Rs 29.25 crore, Shiv Sena Rs 41 crore, DMK Rs 45 crore, Lalu Yadav's RJD Rs 2.5 crore and Aam Aadmi Party Rs 18 crore. Electoral bonds were issued by the government in the year 2017-18. Through which any person, organization can secretly help political parties financially.
