Send the way of reservation to Patidars in Gujarat

States will now have the right to create their own OBC list for the reserve

Maratha community in Maharashtra, Lingayat in Karnataka and Jat community in Haryana are also likely to get OBC status.

The Supreme Court in its May 5 judgment on the Maratha reservation had said that the Center had the right to list the OBCs.

Government's strategy to win the next Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections

New Delhi: With the central government introducing the OBC reservation bill in the Lok Sabha on Monday, the way has been paved for Patel to get the benefit of reservation in Gujarat. The bill is likely to be passed in Parliament in a day or two as the central government's OBC reserve bill has also received support from the Opposition.

With the passage of this bill, states will have the right to create their own OBC lists for the benefit of the reserve. With the states getting this right, Patels in Gujarat, Marathas in Maharashtra, Jats in Haryana and Lingayat communities in Karnataka are likely to be included in OBCs. States will no longer have to go to the central government for approval of which class to include in OBCs due to possible central legislation.

The OBC Bill is the 127th constitutional amendment to be implemented under Article 342 (a) so that the state governments have the right to compile a list of the OBC community according to their needs. The bill was introduced by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Presented by Virendra Kumar. It was recently approved by the Union Cabinet.

The OBC Reserve is the 127th Constitutional Amendment Bill. This bill will be implemented under Article 342A (3). This will give the state governments the right to compile a list of OBCs. With the passage of the amended bill, states will no longer have to rely on the Center for this.

With the enactment of this bill, the state governments will benefit the influential castes who are seeking to join OBC. The Patidar reservation movement in Gujarat caused problems in the government for two years.

The reason for bringing this bill by the central government is that the Supreme Court, while ruling on the Maratha reservation in the fifth, said that only the Center has the right to prepare the OBC list. The central government does not want to take any risk in a sensitive matter like reserves. That is why the central government is bringing this research and giving the right to the state governments to prepare the OBC list.

Following the enactment of this bill, state governments will have the power to prepare OBC lists. The bill would benefit influential castes in those states seeking to join the OBC reserve. The Maratha community in Maharashtra and the Jat community in Haryana and the Patel community in Gujarat and the Lingayat community in Karnataka may get a chance to join OBC.

In addition, next year's elections in Uttar Pradesh could have a major impact on the electoral politics of the OBC community there. The Centre's decision is seen as a decision to draw the OBC community towards it. Most recently, the Center had reserved seats for the OBC community and the economically backward in the reserved seats in medical education.

Opposition demands removal of 50 per cent limit on reserves

The Center on Monday introduced the OBC Reserve Bill in the Lok Sabha, which the Opposition has also decided to support. However, the opposition will press the government to include a provision in the bill to remove the 50 per cent limit on reserves.

Many OBC organizations in the country have long been demanding the removal of the 50 per cent limit on reserves. The apex court in its May 5 judgment had also ruled that the Center had the right to compile a list of OBC reserves and that the Maratha reserves were violating the 50 per cent limit.

The opposition has demanded a discussion on the OBC reserve. The Opposition argues that even if the states get the right to make OBC lists, the new castes included in the list will get very little benefit due to the 50 per cent limit in the reserves. So the 50 per cent limit should be removed. It is said that the issue of reserves is pending in 27 states due to the 50 per cent limit on reserves.
