New Delhi: Two Afghan nationals have been arrested at the New Delhi International Airport for smuggling heroin worth Rs 53 crore. According to customs officials, heroin was smuggled in shampoo and hair color bottles.

Both the Afghan nationals came to India from Tehran via Dubai. The customs department said in a statement that suspicious items were found in the bags of Afghan nationals while checking the bags of the passengers. Further investigation revealed that the hair color and shampoo bottles contained heroin.

The total seized heroin weighed 7.62 kg and was valued at Rs 53.34 crore in the international market. Both Afghan nationals have confessed to the crime during the investigation. The customs department further said that the heroin has been seized and the accused have been arrested.
