The countrymen will have to run for five more days with negligible rainfall.
However, heavy rains are forecast in the northwestern and eastern parts of the country, Uttar Pradesh and northern parts of Bihar till August 14. After this, Megharaja's power will decrease there.
The Indian Meteorological Department said light rains would continue till August 15 in northern India in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, central India and outlying areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, as well as Maharashtra and Gujarat till August 15.
Rains will increase in Tamil Nadu and Kerala after August 15. The two states are expected to receive scattered rains over the next five days, covering several areas.
Scattered heavy rains are expected in Kerala from August 11-12, while in Tamil Nadu from August 11-14. The country received five per cent less rainfall than normal from June 1 to August 10.
Scattered heavy rains are also expected in Assam and Meghalaya during August 11-13, the meteorological department said.
