President Biden spoke about his decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan

Washington, Wednesday, August 11, 2021

The Taliban have tightened their grip on various Afghan territories. The terrorist organization is now said to control 65% of the country. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has called on Afghan leaders to fight for their homeland.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Tuesday, Joe Biden said, "Afghan leaders must unite. The number of Afghan soldiers is greater than the Taliban and they must fight. They must fight for themselves, for their country."

According to Reuters reports, the US president said he did not regret the decision to withdraw his troops. He said his decision was justified in light of the fact that Washington has spent more than a trillion dollars in 20 years and lost thousands of troops, although President Biden said the United States has continued to provide vital air support, food, equipment and salaries to Afghan forces.
