Pandit Nehru and Atal Behari Vajpayee The Ideal of Democracy: Gadkari

New Delhi, 20 August 2021 Friday

According to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Atal Behari Vajpayee are ideals of Indian democracy. The ruling party and the opposition should introspect and adhere to the limits of democracy by respecting each other.

"Atalji's legacy is an inspiration to us, while Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has made a huge contribution to Indian democracy," Gadkari told a private channel.

Recalling his tenure in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, the Union Transport Minister said that he was the Leader of the Opposition at that time. He was leading the opposition to stop the operation of the House. Meanwhile, he had to meet Atalji. Atalji told Gadkari that such behavior was inappropriate in a democracy. It is also important to get your point across.

Gadkari said that he himself has been the party president. The role of the ruling party and the opposition in a democracy changes, so political parties need to introspect.

Nitin Gadkari said about the commotion in the Lok Sabha during the monsoon session that everyone has to abide by the limits.

He said with the Congress in mind, only a strong opposition can build a successful democracy. Congress acts responsibly on the basis of thought. Pros and cons are the two wheels of democracy. Democracy requires the presence of a strong opposition. Nehruji always respected Atalji.
