One million new patients a day in the United States, an average of 452 deaths

Booster doses approved for those with weakened immune systems in the US

The study claims that one in ten patients in the UK contracted a corona infection from a hospital

In one day, 23,418 cases of corona in Thailand reached epidemic disaster levels in Tokyo

WASHINGTON: Corona care has increased in the US due to the delta variant, which has faced two waves of the corona epidemic, while those who have had organ transplants or have weakened immune systems have been allowed to take one more dose of the corona vaccine.

The Food and Drug Administration has amended the Emergency Authorization to provide additional doses of Pfizer-Bioentech and Modern Corona vaccines. This was approved by the FDA after analyzing information about the third dose provided by both companies.

Others who have taken two doses of the corona vaccine do not currently need to take this extra dose. This extra dose is claimed to provide better protection against the Delta variant. Such booster doses are also recommended in France and Israel.

Corona currently has an average of more than 100,000 cases per day in the US. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said corona infection is spreading in about 90 percent of the country. The number of new cases of corona, the number of patients in hospitals and the number of deaths are also on the rise across the country.

On an average, more than 113,000 cases of corona have been reported daily since last week. There has been a 24 per cent increase in new cases this week compared to last week. At present an average of 9700 patients are being admitted to the hospital for treatment of corona and an average of 452 patients are dying every day.

Meanwhile, a study published in the Lancet Journal on corona patients in the UK claimed that one in ten patients receiving corona treatment in Britain's 314 hospitals contracted corona from the hospital itself.

In these hospitals, 11.1 per cent of corona patients came for treatment of other ailments and contracted corona infections. Jonathan Reed, a researcher at Lancaster University who conducted the study, said this did not include patients who were diagnosed with corona after being discharged from the hospital.

The total number of corona cases in Japan has reached 19,000, with about 5,000 new corona cases reported in Tokyo. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least two places in Japan's western prefecture due to heavy rains and floods. Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike said people should get the corona vaccine.

In Thailand, meanwhile, the total number of corona deaths has risen to 7,126, with 23,418 new corona cases and 184 corona deaths reported in the last 24 hours. In Mexico, for the second day in a row, 24,975 new cases of corona were reported, bringing the total to 30,45,571. The Corona death toll rose to 2,46,811, with 608 deaths.
