Mamata sees Shah's hand behind attack on Trinamool leaders

Kolkata, Monday 9th August 2021

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has blamed Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the recent attacks on her student nephews and other student leaders, including Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, in Tripura. Mamata also added that she is not afraid of such moves.

The Trinamool Congress is assessing its strength ahead of the 203rd elections in Tripura.

After meeting injured workers undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kolkata, Mamata said the BJP was spreading chaos in Tripura, Assam and Uttar Pradesh, where it has a government. The attacks on Abhishek and other leaders would not have been possible without the support of the Union Home Minister.

Amit Shah is behind the incident which took place in front of the eyes of Tripura police. For the same reason the police remained a silent spectator during the incident. The Chief Minister of Tripura has no say in ordering such an attack.

Last week, three young Trinamool Congress leaders Debangshu Bhattacharya, Sudip Raha and Jaya Dutta went to Tripura for party work. At that moment, he was stopped on the way and attacked. The youth leaders alleged that M's motor was stopped on Abasa Road and attacked.

He alleged that after Agartala, shots were fired in Dharmanagar and a TMC office was vandalized. BJP workers attacked Abhishek Banerjee's car with a stick. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
