The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested four accused with eight automatic pistols. This large quantity was to be supplied to the gangsters. Further investigations are underway into the illegal arms racket.
Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, DCP, Special Cell, Delhi Police, said the police had received a tip-off a few days back about the arms smuggling. An investigation was launched on that basis. Eventually, four accused from different parts of Delhi were caught with six pistols.
According to the Delhi Police, the police had conducted four separate operations in the last few days. Meanwhile, a racket of these weapons was busted.
Apart from the pistol, 50 cartridges were also recovered from the accused. Two of the four accused are from Delhi and two from Uttar Pradesh. The accused admitted that the amount was to reach the gangsters. Delhi Police conducted further investigation in that direction.
The DCP of the Delhi Police Special Cell said that a high alert has been issued before August 15. It is important to note that this amount was confiscated. The possibility that these weapons could be used for a possible attack before Independence Day cannot be ruled out.
