Five arrested for killing two beggars in Ajmer

Five people have been arrested in Ajmer, Rajasthan, for beating two beggars and threatening to leave for Pakistan, police said on Tuesday. Police took action after a video of two beggars being beaten by some people went viral.

The two men and a woman in the video have not yet been identified, police said. But the five people who beat the three in the video have been arrested and charged with various crimes. The video of the beating of three people who looked like Muslims went viral on various social media on Friday. The video was brought to the attention of the police and action was taken on Friday and the case was registered on Tuesday.

The victims have not been identified yet, said Satendra Singh, SHO, Ramganj police station. However, Lalit Sharma, the main accused in beating the beggars, was arrested on Friday while four others, Shailendra Tak, Tejpal, Surendra and Rohit, were arrested on Saturday. Police have registered a suo-moto application based on the video clip. In the video, a child, a man and a woman are surrounded by a group of five young men. Lalit Sharma is seen kicking the child as he sits on the road in panic. In addition, he slaps a man for begging in a housing colony and tells him to 'go to Pakistan'. A similar case has come to light in Rajasthan just days after a hawker selling bangles was beaten by some people in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
