ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has announced that it will allow Sikhs to visit Kartarpur Sahib in its country, though it has clarified that only Sikhs who have been vaccinated in view of the Koro epidemic will be allowed entry.

The 482nd Punyatithi of Sikh Guru Guru Nanak Dev is coming up on September 22 next month. Following which, Pakistan has decided to open the gates of Darbar Sahib Gurudwara at Kartarpur and allow pilgrims to enter.

Pakistan said in a statement that only pilgrims who have taken the corona vaccine will be admitted. The Kartarpur corridors were closed in March 2020 in view of the Koro epidemic. Pakistan placed India in the C category due to the delta variant of the corona virus.

The period was from May 22 to August 12, and Indians, including Sikhs, had to seek special permission to enter Pakistan. Pakistan said any Indian national who underwent a PCR test within a 72-hour period would be admitted, along with a test report and a certificate of vaccination.
