Congress-Twitter battle: After Rahul Gandhi, the party's account was also blocked

The Congress on Thursday alleged that the microblogging website Twitter had blocked the official Twitter handle of the Congress after senior leader Rahul Gandhi, as well as the Twitter handles of a large number of its leaders and activists. The Congress claimed that more than 2,000 Twitter accounts, including those of its senior leaders, had been blocked. However, Twitter has justified its action. Youth Congress president Srinivasa, on the other hand, has named his Twitter account Rahul Gandhi and posted a photo of him. Priyanka Gandhi has also posted a photo of Rahul Gandhi on her Twitter account.

The social media site and the Congress have come under fire after a microblogging site shut down Rahul Gandhi's Twitter handle after he shared a photo and video of the family of a nine-year-old rape and murder victim on his Twitter account in Delhi last week. Twitter said some Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, had violated the law by blocking their accounts to protect their privacy after sharing photos and videos.

The Congress has alleged on its website that Gandhi's account was blocked under government pressure. The Congress said on Instagram that Twitter India had locked the official handle of the country's main opposition. This is an extraordinary attack on the voice of the people. Rohan Gupta, head of the Congress' social media department, said the party's official Twitter handle and about 5,000 accounts of its top leaders and activists had been blocked. Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewal said the Narendra Modi government could not stifle his voice by threatening Twitter. How much you suppress Twitter with a police threat. This is not only an issue of freedom of speech but also an issue of justice for Valmiki Dalit Sagira. We will continue to raise our voices until poor Sagira gets justice.

Meanwhile, after Rahul Gandhi's Twitter account was blocked, several party leaders came forward in support of Rahul Gandhi. Youth Congress president Srinivasa has named his Twitter account Rahul Gandhi and posted a photo of him. Priyanka Gandhi has also posted a photo of Rahul Gandhi on her Twitter account. Srinivasa tweeted, "How many Twitter accounts will you block?" Every activist will become the voice of Rahul Gandhi and ask you tough questions.

The party, meanwhile, said it was in talks with Twitter India and would resolve the dispute. A Twitter spokesperson said the company's rules are the same for everyone. We've taken action against hundreds of tweets and videos that break the law. The disclosure of some private information is a risky matter and we will always protect personal privacy and security.
