The Trinamool Congress has expressed displeasure over the delay in holding by-polls in seven West Bengal assembly constituencies. The Trinamool Congress has said in a statement that a delegation of its party will visit the Election Commission tomorrow (July 17) to demand early by-elections for seven assembly seats.

Senior Trinamool leader Sukhendu Shekhar Rai criticized the Election Commission for whether it was waiting for the third wave of Corona. He further said that at present the cases of Corona have come down and despite all the favorable conditions for holding elections, it is not clear why the Election Commission is not holding elections.

It is to be mentioned that by-elections are to be held in five seats and re-election in two seats. The by-election is very important for Mamata Banerjee as she lost to Suvendu Adhikari in the Assembly elections.

It may be mentioned that as per the rules, any Nata can remain in the post of Minister for a maximum of six months without being elected to either the State Assembly or the House of Parliament.

Mamata Banerjee needs to be elected to the Assembly by November 4 to continue as Chief Minister. "We will meet Election Commission officials in New Delhi tomorrow," Rai said. The Election Commission is deliberately delaying the by-elections. Is he waiting for the third wave of Corona.
