The two acting presidents signed a written invitation to Capt Amarinder Singh to attend the coronation ceremony. The captain accepted the invitation. After meeting the captain, Kuljit Nagra said that Chief Minister Amarinder Singh would bless him by attending the function.
Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh were at loggerheads over the helm of the Punjab Congress. The High Command eventually handed over the helm of the Punjab Congress to former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, along with four acting presidents. After the announcement of Navjot Singh Sidhu as the President of Punjab Congress, Sidhu will now officially take charge on July 9.
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's media adviser said in a statement that the Punjab chief minister has invited all MLAs and MPs to attend Sidhu's coronation. The MLAs and MPs will first meet the captain and then reach the Punjab Congress Bhavan and attend Sidhu's function, an official statement said.
Sukhbinder Singh Randhawa, a leader close to Navjot Singh Sidhu, said Congress in-charge Harish Rawat would also be present at the event. The program will not showcase the power of factionalism. All the leaders and workers of the Congress will unite and take part in it and decide to strengthen the organization.
