Amid claims that thousands of people around the world have been spied on by Israeli spyware Pegasus, advisers to the spiritual guru Dalai Lama have also been identified as potential targets for Pegasus. According to a report in The Wire, phone numbers of several other Buddhist clerics, Tibetan officials and activists have also been found in the leaked database. Which suggests that they were monitored from the year 2012 to the beginning of 2018. However, a report also says that having a phone number on the list does not mean that they were the target of Pegasus, as it can only be clarified by forensic analysis of the device.
