The country witnessed an increase in new cases of corona for the second day in a row. The health ministry said the rising number of cases in Kerala was responsible for the increase in cases. A total of 4,303 new cases of corona were reported in the country on Thursday. With this, the total number of cases increased to more than 2.16 crore while the total death toll rose to more than 2.8 lakh with the death of 20 more.

For the third day in a row, more than 3,000 cases of corona were reported in Kerala on Thursday. In Kerala, there was a sudden surge in Corona's case following the state government's exemption for the Bakri-Eid holiday. As the case escalates in Kerala, the central government will send a team to the state for effective management of corona. Researchers, meanwhile, said the rise in R-factor in Kerala has led to an increase in corona cases. The R-factor indicates an increase in the prevalence of corona cases in the country. Apart from Kerala, R-factor has also been found to increase in the north-eastern states.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases of corona in the country increased to 3.08 lakh, which is 1.6 per cent of the total cases. So far, 2.06 crore corona patients have been cured in the country. The recovery rate against Corona is 7.5 per cent, while the positivity rate is 7.5 per cent and the weekly positivity rate is 7.5 per cent, the health ministry said. So far, a total of 3.04 crore doses of corona vaccine have been given in the country under the nationwide vaccination campaign.
