Stop Pegasus, a human rights abuser: WhatsApp

Reports of spyware attacks on WhatsApp

Israel's NSO group's Pegasus spyware spying controversy on 300 Indians in WhatsApp

New Delhi: WhatsApp President Will Cathcart has said that the use of Pegasus is a violation of human rights. It should be banned. The use of Pegasus through NSO is equally dangerous and must be prevented.

The statement came after reports surfaced that about 300 verified Indian mobile numbers had been spied on by Pegasus software. The report claims that the 300 numbers spied on include government ministers, prominent leaders, senior journalists, human rights activists and others.

In 2019, WhatsApp accounts of journalists and social activists from all over the world, including India, were hacked. And even in that hacking the name of Pegasus came up. After which a case was filed against the NSO group by WhatsApp. Cathcart has appealed to human rights companies, governments and organizations through several tweets on WhatsApp to immediately stop the abuse of Pegasus spyware.
