Opposition in Lok Sabha-Rajya Sabha on espionage scandal, proceedings in both houses adjourned

The second day of the monsoon session of Parliament today is witnessing a huge uproar over spying on mobile phones through a software called Pegasus.

As soon as the Parliament resumed its proceedings at 11 am today, a commotion was started by the Opposition in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. As a result, the proceedings of both the houses had to be adjourned.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi said there was no connection between the government and Pegasus. PM Modi has also expressed the feeling that the behavior of the Congress is very irresponsible.

Meanwhile, a demonstration was staged by the Akali Dal outside Parliament, saying that the issue of farmers had not been raised by the Congress in the Lok Sabha. Congress does not care about farmers.

Meanwhile, the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned and resumed at 12 noon but the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned again as protests continued by the Opposition. Zero Hour could not be discussed in the Rajya Sabha due to commotion. The Congress said the espionage scandal was an issue linked to national security and should be dealt with immediately.
