New Delhi: Lower immunity, more transmissible Corona variants and relief in lockdown could bring a third wave of Corona, AIIMS director Randeep Guleria said in a statement.

However, he added that the third wave could be prevented by maintaining social distance, using masks and taking vaccines. He said the third wave of corona had started in some countries but the number of hospital admissions had dropped. 41,806 new cases of corona have been reported in the country.

According to data released by the Union Ministry of Health, the total number of corona cases in the country so far has risen to 3,09,87,880. On the other hand, the number of active cases has also increased to 4,32,041. The death toll from the corona has risen to 4,11,989, with 581 more killed. The number of active cases of corona has increased by 2095 cases in the last 24 hours.

19,43,488 tests of the corona were performed in the last 24 hours. As a result, a total of 43,80,11,958 tests have been conducted in the country so far. On the other hand, 39.49 crore people in the country have been vaccinated against corona so far. The weekly positive rate stood at 2.21 per cent, according to figures released by the health ministry. In Dehradun, 13 tourists were caught with fake RT-PCR tests.
