A major tragedy has occurred at a Kovid-19 hospital in Nasiriyah, Iraq. A fierce fire at a hospital has killed at least 39 people and injured 20 others.

The tragic incident was reportedly caused by an explosion in an oxygen tank at a hospital in Nasiriyah. The blast left 39 people dead. The information was given on Monday by health officials and police. Prime Minister Mustafa al-Qadimi held an immediate meeting with senior ministers and ordered the arrest and suspension of health and civil security providers in Nasiriyah.

According to the details received, the health workers had removed the bodies from the burning hospital and several patients were coughing due to the smoke. Health officials in Nasiriyah said a rescue operation was underway at the Al-Hussein Corona virus hospital after the fire was contained, but heavy smoke made it difficult to enter some wards.

According to initial police reports, the fire was caused by an oxygen tank rupture inside the hospital's Covid 19 ward. Ali Muhsin, a hospital guard, said he heard a loud explosion inside the Covid ward and then the fire broke out very quickly.

Corona virus has killed 17,592 people and infected more than 1.4 million in Iraq.
