Today, petrol and diesel prices have reached new highs across the country with a hike of 3 paise per liter and 12 paise per liter.

After today's hike, the price of a liter of petrol in Delhi has gone up by Rs 101.8 and a liter of diesel by Rs 7.5, according to a price notification issued by the state-owned oil company.

Earlier, on July 16, diesel prices were reduced by 18 paise. Earlier, petrol and diesel prices were reduced on April 18.

After that, there was no change in petrol and diesel prices for 15 days in view of the Assembly elections in five states. However, with the completion of assembly elections in five states, the hike in petrol and diesel prices was initiated.

Petrol prices have been hiked 20 times since May 4. Since May 4, diesel prices have been reduced three times and once.

It may be mentioned that the price of petrol has crossed Rs 100 in 12 states and 6 Union Territories. In Rajasthan, Odisha and some parts of Madhya Pradesh, the price of diesel has crossed Rs 100.

Petrol prices have been hiked 20 times since May 4. In which a total increase of Rs 11.15 has been made. Diesel prices have been hiked three times so far. In which a total increase of Rs. 3.15 has been made.

Since May 2020, petrol prices have gone up by a total of Rs 41.5 and diesel by a total of Rs 7.5.
