Dhara Dhruji in Shimla, magnitude 3.6 on Richter scale, panic among people

Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, was hit by an earthquake at 7:47 pm on Thursday. The magnitude of the earthquake was 3.6 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was reported at a depth of 10 km.

However, no casualties were reported. Many people fled their homes after the quake. Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, is one of the most earthquake prone areas.

Himachal falls in seismic zones 4 and 5 from the seismic point of view. Kangra, Chamba, Lahaul, Kullu and Mandi are the most vulnerable areas from the seismic point of view. These areas fall under seismic zone five, while other areas of the state fall under zone four.
