In March, MSEDCL's Additional Engineer Ashok Bunde inspected Gaekwad's construction sites in the Kolsewadi area of ​​Kalyan East, which was found to be stealing electricity. MSEDCL immediately paid Rs. 34,840 in addition to Rs. A fine of Rs 15,000 was also slapped.

Bunde had lodged a complaint at the Mahatma Phule police station last week after Gaikwad failed to pay the bill for three months. MSEDCL spokesperson Vijay Singh said that after the police registered an FIR against Gaikwad last week, he had paid the full amount of the bill as well as the fine on Monday.

However, according to the law, theft of electricity can result in imprisonment for a maximum of three years or a fine or both. Gaikwad, however, said in a statement that the power company had made false allegations against him. He questioned why the meters were not moved from his site if he had stolen electricity?
