BDL and Indian Air Force have agreed to pay Rs. 499 crore agreement

New Delhi: Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has signed a Rs 499 crore agreement with the Ministry of Defense for the manufacture and supply of air missiles for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The MoU was signed by Ajay Singhal, Commander (Guided Weapons Maintenance) and TN Kaul (Retd.), Executive Director (Marketing), BDL, on behalf of the Indian Air Force in New Delhi. BDL Director (Production) P Radhakrishna was also present on the occasion. BDL CMD Commander Siddharth Mishra (retd) said that BDL was supplying air missiles to the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.

With the announcement of the Union Cabinet regarding the approval of the Akash Weapon System for export, the company is considering introducing Akash for export abroad. Some countries that have expressed interest in buying BDL missiles have already got export leads. The company has a well-established structure and expertise to complete their orders and deliveries.

BDL is the main manufacturing agency for projects under India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP). Akash is one of the missiles manufactured by BDL under IGMDP for the Indian Army and Indian Air Force Bane. This missile has been successfully tested several times. It is considered the best missile in its category.

The cap also includes anti-tank guided missiles, air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground weapons, launchers, test equipment, underwater weapons and a counter-major system. The company received new orders worth Rs 2,803 crore during the financial year 2020-21. These include anti-tank guided missiles worth Rs 1,820 crore and surface-to-air missile orders worth Rs 793 crore.
