3.03 lakh crore for power sector reforms and Rs 19,000 crore for Bharat Net


- 6.28 lakh crore package proposal approved in Union Cabinet meeting

- Rs 93000 crore will be allocated for free food to 80 crore people till November

New Delhi: A meeting of the Union Cabinet was held today under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. Some important proposals were approved at this meeting. Power distribution reform has been approved. Rs 2.09 lakh crore has been sanctioned for this. In addition, a project worth Rs 15,000 crore has been approved to bring internet to the villages of the country.

Informing about this important meeting, Union Minister Javadekar said that two days ago, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram had announced an incentive package of Rs 4 lakh crore. The package was also approved today. Javadekar said 300 million people would be provided free foodgrains by November. The Cabinet has sanctioned Rs 2,000 crore for this. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the government has decided to extend internet to every village. The Union Cabinet has approved Rs 15,000 crore for the Bharat Net project. For this broadband system will be delivered to every village.

In 14 states of the country, Bharat Net has approved the PPP model (20-year agreement). The total project is worth Rs 6,000 crore, of which the Government of India's share is Rs 15,000 crore. For this, more than 3 lakh villages will be connected with broadband.

An important decision has been taken to improve the power sector. Rs 2.09 lakh crore has been sanctioned for this. Plans will be sought from the state governments for this. The center will give them money for this.

Union Minister RK Singh said there were also plans to strengthen the solar system for this. Older HT-LT lines will be replaced. So that 2 hours electricity can be available.
