The second wave of the Corona epidemic in India has killed between 3 and 4 lakh people, according to Dr. Krishna Kumar of the Department of Economics at the Center for Global Health Research at the University of Toronto and Dartmouth College. This was stated in a study by Paul Novosad. However, according to the Center, the official death toll in Corona is 2.31 lakh.

The study was conducted on the basis of death rates recorded in eight states and seven cities between June 2020 and June 2021 in India. During the first wave of the Corona epidemic in 2020, the average mortality rate was 3% higher. The average mortality rate in Andhra Pradesh was 9 per cent and in Kerala it was 4 per cent. The average mortality rate during the second wave of epidemics between April and June this year was 9 per cent. Which had reached 12 per cent in Madhya Pradesh.

The gap between the number of deaths due to any cause in 2030 and 2021 is higher than the first year. Researchers believe that more of these deaths may have been caused by corona. Research has claimed that corona has been the leading cause of death among people over the age of five in the last two years.
