On the other hand, Delhi Police has also registered a case against Twitter following a complaint by the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights over child sexual abuse content on social media platforms.

The implementation of the new IT rules has been a bone of contention between the Center and Twitter and the issue of posting offensive videos in connection with the killing of an elderly Muslim in Uttar Pradesh has also put the social media platform in trouble. Following the controversy over tampering with the country's map, Twitter had removed a false map of India from its website.

However, the first FIR was registered against Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari at the Khurja Nagar police station in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district on Monday evening for tampering with the country's map. An FIR has also been registered against Amrita Tripathi, head of News Partnerships, on the basis of a complaint by a Bajrang Dal official. According to the FIR, charges have also been framed in the case under Section 7 of the Information Technology Act.

Police in Madhya Pradesh have also registered an FIR against Twitter MD Manish Maheshwari for tampering with the country's map. An FIR has been registered following a complaint by BJP spokesperson Durgesh Keswani, said Gurkaran Singh, superintendent of police, Madhya Pradesh Cyber ​​Crime Cell. He added that Twitter's move has hurt people's feelings.

In Delhi too, an FIR has been registered against Twitter under various provisions of the IPC, Poxo and IT Act for allegedly allowing access to child pornography on a microblogging platform based on a NCPCR complaint. The action was taken by Delhi Police on the second day after the country's apex body for children's rights, the NCPCR, questioned Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber ​​Cell) Anyesh Roy as to why no action had been taken against Twitter on the issue of child pornography.

Meanwhile, a parliamentary panel on Tuesday sought a two-day reply from Twitter on the issue of temporarily blocking the Twitter accounts of Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.
