UP: The list includes converts, doctors, engineers and PHD holders.

The Uttar Pradesh ATS is interrogating both the accused associated with the Islamic Claims Center who were arrested on Monday in a conversion case. On the other hand, the details of conversions in IDC in the last 1.5 years have also come to light. Mohammad Umar Gautam and Mufti Jahangir Qasmi, who belong to the Islamic Dawa Center, have been remanded in custody for seven days and have released 81 pages of details of those who have been converted in the last 1.5 years.

Under the signature of Mufti Qazi Jahangir Alam Kasmi, 33 people were converted from January 7, 2020 to May 12, 2021, including 18 women and 15 men. If we talk about the states, the highest number of 14 people were converted from Delhi, 9 from Uttar Pradesh, 3 from Bihar, 2 from MP and Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam, Jharkhand and Kerala.

Of the 33 people who have converted to Islam, only one in Bulandshahr, UP, has passed the lowest standard of 6, while the rest are mostly educated. Among the converts are government employees, teachers who have studied up to BTech, youngsters who have passed MBA, senior software engineers, staff nurses of Delhi Hospital, MBBS doctors from Gujarat, holders of diploma in electricals, M.Pharma, MCA. All of them have also attached an affidavit with the prescribed form of conversion of the Islamic Claims Center in which they admit in writing that they have left their original religion and accepted Islam without any greed.

After the first day of interrogation, it is believed that the UP ATS may also enlist the help of income tax officials to understand the money trail in its interrogation. For the interrogation of both the accused, 4 teams have been formed by the ATS which will inquire about the network spread across various states within their country, Uttar Pradesh network, foreign funding and ISI connections of the people in contact.
