Kolkata: Amid political controversy in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee convened a meeting on Saturday. In this meeting, he has taken a big decision and appointed his nephew Abhishek Banerjee as the General Secretary of TMC. Meanwhile, actress Sayoni Ghosh has been made the president of the Trinamool Youth Congress. While veteran leader Krunal Ghosh has been appointed as the party's state general secretary.

It may be mentioned here that during the Bengal election campaign, the opposition had accused Mamata Banerjee of familism on the pretext of Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee. But now the party has handed over a new responsibility to Abhishek after a resounding victory in the elections.

Abhishek Banerjee was earlier the president of the youth wing of the party. But in view of the 'one leader one post' policy, he has resigned as the chairman of the youth wing. Significantly, Abhishek Banerjee campaigned hard during the election and played a key role in giving victory to the party.
